President’s Page for September
It is a true realization for me that summer is slowly slipping away… 2018 sure seems to have given us a lot of memories of opposites. The days went by slowly, but the months flew by fast. We have seen weddings and breakups, babies and funerals, hard work and vacations, picnics and formals, home parties and get a-ways. Jesus also taught us with opposites. You are either for Him or against. You are a child of the light or one who is in darkness. Your treasure is either in heaven or on earth.
Jesus’s life was also a lesson in opposites. Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master. Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. It seems ironic with all the opposites, and now we see ourselves beginning to resume our fall activities. School is starting back up with all the other activities that people find themselves busy with. We are also turning a new chapter with our church and are praying for wisdom with hope for the future. After following the Synod call process, we may have found a pastor who fills our needs within the congregation and community which will help us grow for the future. By now congregational vote has occurred, and either way, we find ourselves stronger and set on a common direction.
I’ll close with this last opposite. It has been said that happiness is good health and a bad memory. Thankfully and truthfully – most of us have been blessed with both!
