October 6/7 – 20/21 – Fall Stewardship Campaign – we are kicking off our campaign for 2019. The theme is the “Parable of the Talents.” We all know the story from Matthew’s gospel (25:14-30). A master gives three slaves his money to keep safe while he goes away. They get 10, 5 and 1 talents respectively. Did you know a biblical talent is actually a large block of precious metal, so they each got quite a bit of money. The important part of the story is what they did with their talents. When he came back to collect what he gave them two of them increased theirs and the third buried it in the ground earning nothing. What do you do with your talents? Do you increase them, share them or bury them in the ground? Do you keep them to yourself? We are not just referring to money, but also your time and ability to share what you do well with others. We plan on exploring that in our three-week program. The results of the youth exercise will be shared with the congregation on the first weekend of the campaign, October 6/7. The second weekend, October 13/14, will be spend on the Time and Talent form and the third Sunday, October 20/21, will be Commitment Sunday. In this time of transition for Trinity we welcome you to think about all your talents, and how you can share them with the church around you.
October 11 at 6:00-7:00 p.m. – Join the Cross Generational Team of Trinity for an evening of inspiration and hope. Patsy Wurster, author of My Million-Mile Journey, will be sharing her deeply personal story of how, with God’s grace and mercy, she was able to overcome extreme childhood adversity to find fulfillment through faith, forgiveness and resilience. There will be signed copies of Patty’s book available for sale.
October 13/14 – Say goodbye to our interim pastor. Pastor Michael’s last service will be the weekend of October 13/14. There will be two send-off events: a dessert reception on Saturday after the service and a potluck on Sunday after the 10:30 a.m. service. We wish Pastor Michael all the best as he continues on his journey and thank him for all he has done over the past year and a half. We will especially miss his voice in song. It added greatly to our services.
October 20/21 – Say “hello” to our new pastor! Pastor Denise Mbise has accepted our call. Her first services at Trinity will be on the weekend of October 20 and 21. There will be dessert receptions on Saturday and Sunday to welcome her and for her to meet the congregation. We are very excited to have her join our family. A formal installation service will be held in November. Stay tuned for more information.
