Join us for our winter book read discussion on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Castillo’s.  Winter is a great time to curl up with a good book, and “A is for Alabaster” is definitely a fun and insightful book about 52 Biblical characters we may or may not know. Each reflection is just a few pages and offers fresh perspectives. I’ll be curious to discuss your favorite characters and maybe ones you find challenging. I have heard Anna Carter Florence preach a couple times at the Festival of Homiletics and enjoy her insights on the Bible stories. I hope you will, too.

Beloved preacher and writer Anna Carter Florence brings winsome insight to an array of characters and stories in the Bible—some celebrated and some overlooked. From courageous Abigail to Zelophehad’s daughters, and from an alabaster jar of ointment to Zacchaeus in the sycamore tree, Florence takes readers on an enchanting tour of the Old and New Testaments with reflections that reveal ancient wisdom and spark imagination anew.
